Dad's Socks from You-Know-Where

These socks were simple to knit, don't get me wrong. I used a vintage pattern (1936) from Minerva. Straightforward. The issue is that men's socks (okay, and those for my enormous feet, as well) take forever. I get bored with knitting, in sock yarn, on tiny needles, and find that once I finish one sock, I am ready to put the whole project down for awhile, in this case, an entire year.  So I picked them back up to finish, only to find I was on another planet while completing the first sock, and messed up the foot of the sock big time. So I finished, the second, and then ripped out the first, only to lose the rest of the sock yarn, so found something somewhat similar, since I had also lost the tag for the yarn, and finished it off. And when I finished it off, I somehow managed to do the Kitchener stitch up and down rather than across the toe. So, out it gets ripped again. In the meantime, I found the small ball of yarn leftover for the sock. I had stuffed it in a diaper key chain. Don't ask. I don't know. So, finally, the yarn all matched, the sock did not suffocate Dad's foot, and the Kitchener stitch to finish the puppy off was across the toes, not through them. What an ordeal. Here is a shot of one on my foot. Yes, they fit my feet. My feet are that big. No, my husband does not have small man feet, but rather average ones. Siiiiggghhhh....

  1. I was on a sock knitting kick for a while there. They do get a bit tedious after a while. The yarn I was using shrank way too much(supposed to be non shrinking) as well and most of the gorgeous socks I made are now unwearable.

I welcome hospitable, intelligent discussion. I do not welcome mean-spirited comments. Though they are "moderated" I post pretty much everything, with a very, very small exception-that being spam and those who aim to hurts others intentionally. I'd love hear what you have to say, otherwise!
