High Fructose Corn Syrup

Anyone else a little unnerved at the new commercials where the two moms are talking at a birthday party and the one (whose husband apparently must work for the commercial corn industry) touts that hfcs is totally safe, made from corn and just like sugar. Um, I’d like to see THOSE studies. I don’t know about you, but we are a household that strives to keep that stuff out. I notice a difference. Heck, even Oprah’s health guru Dr Oz says it’s bad for ya. You can’t tell me corn lady doesn’t watch Oprah-we all sneak a peek every once in a while. I was just irked when I saw the commercial. Check out the book Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan-I am currently reading it. It talks about the fact that we eat corn in just about everything. It’s creepy. Makes me glad I garden and raise my own birds. They do get some corn, but I put more emphasis on oats, flax and wheat grains. There is very little corn in the mix. Anyway, grrr.

  1. Well, I'm really happy that HFCS is safe. Now I can start feeding my children healthy things like Pop Tarts....

I welcome hospitable, intelligent discussion. I do not welcome mean-spirited comments. Though they are "moderated" I post pretty much everything, with a very, very small exception-that being spam and those who aim to hurts others intentionally. I'd love hear what you have to say, otherwise!
